From Disconnection to Divine

A whirlwind of passion, enthusiasm and deep-seated compassion, Amy Shaw is a powerhouse of a business leader, creative director and healer – beautifully balancing logic with spiritual connection.

Words Lucinda Diack

Amy Shaw is passionate about helping people fulfil their purpose with strategic business energetics and healing and embodiment work. For over twenty years she worked tirelessly within the fashion retail industry racking up 14 hours a day; partying hard and constantly on the road as her roles took her from LA to London to Korea, New York and back again. She loved every minute of it. Yet despite the outward achievement and success she describes it as a period of being ‘completely disconnected.’

‘I was making all the money, achieving all my career goals and life tick list, she explains, ‘but I felt empty. I wasn’t at peace with myself. Lots of people will go through a transformative period following burn-out or another significant event, but for me, I had always had a connection with my spiritual self, and knew I needed to activate and align my highest timeline.

Starting slowly, she recalls tapping back into her intuition, and nurturing that gut feeling we all so commonly lean back on. What resulted was a really slow, beautiful transition of moving into full alignment.

‘I had always followed my intuition, in business, in my personal life, but all too often we can ignore it, but the more I listened and cultivated that intuition, the more I was able to reconnect with a sense of deep self-love. Which is the most important first step on any spiritual or energy shift journey.’

It is a journey she is taking others on – in amongst her role as Creative Director at David Shaw, her own label Louve, the world’s first visionary creative spiritual agency blending healing and business energetic strategy; Leaders in the Light podcast and immersive experience retreats in Byron Bay, Australia.

‘Everybody’s soul journey is really different, but it starts with alignment and a deep connection with self. For me, it was about realising that for most of my life, like 99% of females, I didn’t love myself. I didn’t know how to find joy. I wasn’t being an optimal mother, I wasn’t present. I was doing the things on the outside; making money, ticking off big ticket items and goals, but on the inside, I was quite empty.

‘I woke up one day and looked around and thought, “this can’t be it.” I didn’t love myself and was missing the deep connections I know I need to thrive. As I stepped out of that and into more of my intuitive alignment, I found my community.’

For Amy this shift is about changing energy frequencies. ‘We all have these stories that we tell ourselves. Things like I can’t be a business owner, or I can’t buy that house, or I’m not worthy of that success.

‘It is these limiting beliefs that hold us back. We are quick to hide them under the rug or bat them to one side, but actually we need to sit in them and ask ourselves why. Why do you think you aren’t worthy of that success? As we sit and work through these beliefs we start to transform them – changing the meaning; the story behind them. And ultimately changing the energy in which we are operating.

‘It is really scary because you are forced to re-evaluate relationships, with yourself, with friends, partners, family … and in some cases you may outgrow these connections. Which can result in big periods of solitude. A lonely period of self-discovering. But that is where we find the beautiful magic of it, as that is where you fall in love with yourself.People are waking up globally, incorporating healing, energetics, and frequency to align their lives.’

For those prepared to step into a higher frequency, to open their minds to something new, a different more powerful sense of self, that is elevated living, and where we can access true abundance.

‘You can call it spirituality, you can call it mindset, you can call it elevation. Whatever it is, it is about having a deeper purpose and a deeper connection with yourself and surrendering to that, so you can create your dream life,’ she says.

The path to healing and fulfilment is a continual journey with numerous layers to uncover and work through. ‘You have to have courage, and you have to be brave. Lots of people get stuck in that transformation stage, because it gets hard. You’re not quite the new person, but you’re still not the old person. It is easier to give back into your nervous system and go to the old version of yourself. To play small and keep safe. To be palatable and conform, but then you get stuck just living the life you’re trying to escape.’

Like getting fit, embarking on an alignment journey is about informing yourself with knowledge, having access to the right equipment and perseverance. Helping people to understand the connection between physical and energetic health is key for Amy. ‘We have an energetic spine known as our chakras which are as important as our temple, or body. Like the gym, you can’t go to a healer once and be fit, you have to keep going and keep working on it.’

Continuously working on these limited beliefs rather than pushing them to the side is a daily practice, even for Amy. ‘I start every day with my intentions for the day: how I want to parent, what I  want to bring forward to cultivate in my day, for my abundance, for my businesses, and then release anything that’s keeping me small.

‘Anything that brings up an emotion in myself like ‘no you can’t do that,’ I sit in. Questioning myself why I feel that way and working through it rather than just batting it to the side. The more we work through these and lift our frequencies the more open we are to opportunities’ and relationships that are operating on this same level.’

For Amy, one of the most exciting things about working with clients and fellow business leaders, whether that is during the day in her ‘logical brain collaborations’ or through her empowerment retreats and one-on-one coaching, is the ‘ripple effect‘ of lifting the consciousness of the planet. Why would you not want to break free from limiting beliefs and embrace your soul’s blueprint?

Amy Shaw’s Top Tips to Begin Your Own Healing Journey Audit Your Life

Start by auditing everything in your life. Does it drain you or does it light you up? If it lights you up, follow that path. Your body keeps score. So if you are always sick, if you’re always run down, if you are anxious, these are the signs that something needs to shift.

Write A Joy List

What does joy look like to you? Is it going to a loud, bustling market? Is it travel? Is it the sunrise? Write down a list of different things and try them all. Do more of the ones that align with you and make you feel good.

Set Clear Intentions

Setting an intention is your way to communicate with the universe. Very clearly state what you want your life to look like, and then start embodying her. Small actionable steps will get you there.

Embrace Solitude

You have to be brave enough to leave an environment that you’re not thriving in. That might be a friendship group, it might be a job, it might be a relationship. The hardest part of any transformation is stepping into the unknown and into a space where you are on your own for a bit, but as you keep walking you’ll find the right people to join you.

Say No

If I get invited to something, whether it is a high paying speaking event or a birthday party, if it isn’t a hell yes response from within, I am not there … I’ve worked too hard to protect the vibration that I sit in. Don’t say yes, if you want to say no.
