What’s Hot – Trends with Resene
Resene Canterbury Design Advocate Brooke Calvert guides us through the must-have hues for the year ahead.
If you’ve decided that your all-white walls are not seeming as appealing as they once did, there is no easier way to change the complete feel of a space than with a fresh coat of Resene paint, and with some bold and vibrant new colour trends on the horizon this year now is the time to get creative and have some fun! While some shades are perfect for the walls, others will pop on furniture.
Bold, Fiery and Passionate Reds
It’s been quite some time since we’ve last seen red labelled as a ‘popular’ hue for interiors, destined to be a big deal in the year ahead across restaurateurs, retail and residential. Colours such as Resene Scoria, Resene Rudolph, Resene Incarnadine and Resene Aroha.
Acidic Greens
Over the past couple of years green has basically become the new neutral. While greens won’t be going anywhere in 2023, we’re about to see more acidic hues making a splash across fashion and the paint world. Colours such as Resene Lemon Ginger, Resene Funk, Resene Camouflage and Resene Canary.
Purple Reign
Although we have seen the appearance of purple on the runway, it has never really taken off as a major trend with paint, but that’s about to change with pale purples, deeper aubergines, plums and mauves. Try Resene Heliotrope, Resene Black Doris, Resene Tenor and Resene Half Aubergine.
The Arrival of Aqua
Expect to see strong pops of aqua, turquoise and peacock blues emerging. Although these shades could feel overwhelming to use on all walls, they can make fantastic accent colours. Try colours such as Resene Plan B, Resene Boost, Resene St Kilda and Resene Time Traveller.
