My Colourful World with Wayne Good
Interior designer Wayne Good is passionate about colour, antiques and food, culminating in a home he describes as evoking a sense of ‘WOW, because that’s what I hear when people enter – it’s welcoming and very interesting.’ We talk to him about his vibrant use of colour.

My favourite colour combo currently is the use of Resene Spanish Green and Resene Palm Leaf. And all the wonderful accent colours that surround them, especially in the large ‘food’ painting in the kitchen area.
Tell us about how you use colour in your home?
I use colour in my home in generous proportions; however nothing is ever permanent, I do like change. I like to use colours on the walls that enhance all the beautiful objects, fabrics and rugs in each room.

If using multiple colours in a scheme, it is important to stick to one palette, be it bright, earthy, pastel or neutral. Neutral schemes must have accents of colour and plenty of layered textures to avoid a sterile, boring scheme.
How important is colour cohesion?
Colour cohesion is important to a point, however I like to mix it up – think Resene Powder Blue, with Resene Shadowy Blue from the Karen Walker Paints collection for a calming layered effect, then add an accent of Resene Crisp Green to achieve a sharpness. This is achieved by years of experience, however it’s always important to look at what already exists and to work with it, formulating a plan before you fire ahead.
