Explore my backyard

For Bron Kemp, the heart of Tairāwhiti lies in the deep connection to culture and community which you can experience through storytelling, local boutiques and cuisine.

Nestled on the sun-drenched eastern coast of Gisborne is a city full of natural beauty, cultural richness, and an endearing laid-back charm. Known as the first city in the world to greet the sun each day, this is a little city that embodies warmth in every sense, whether it’s the glowing beaches, the friendly locals, or the welcoming vibe that wraps you up as soon as you arrive. Flush with fertile vineyards, lush orchards and rugged hillsides, plus some of the best waves in the country, this is a true hidden gem.

EAT

Crawford Road Kitchen

One of my favourite spots to enjoy some delicious food is right on the harbour’s edge at Crawford Road Kitchen. This place is a real treasure. Their sharing plates and platters are inspired by the stunning surrounding landscape and prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. It’s the perfect spot to soak up the best of what Gisborne has to offer.
