DIY: Make a knitted pet bed


A cosy bed for your pet is at the tip of your needles.

Makes an approx 91.5 cm square.

MATERIALS
• Bernat® Blanket Pet™ 225g: Red (30009) 5 balls
• 6mm knitting needles or size needed to obtain correct tension
• Cable needle
• Long sewing needle
• Thread
• 2 large buttons
• 91.5 cm Square pillow

ABBREVIATIONS

Approx = Approximately, K = Knit, Pat = Pattern, Rep = Repeat, RS = Right side, Sl1Pwyb = Slip next stitch purlwise with yarn at back of work, Sl1Pwyf = Slip next stitch purlwise with yarn at front of work, St(s) = Stitch(es), Tog = Together

TENSION

12 sts and 20 rows to 10cm in pattern using 6mm needles.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Front and back (make alike)

Cast on 107 sts. Do not join. Working back and forth across needle in rows, proceed as follows – 1st row – (RS). *K3. Sl1Pwyb. Rep
from * to last 3 sts. K3.

2nd row – *K3. Sl1Pwyf. Rep from * to last 3 sts. K3.

3rd row – As 1st row.

4th row – *K3. P1. Rep from * to last 3 sts. K3. Rep last 4 rows for Slip St Pat until work measures approx. 91.5cm, ending on a 1st or 3rd row of pat. Cast off.

2. Finishing

Sew 3 sides of Pillow tog. Insert pillow. Sew rem side closed.

Buttons – Measure and mark centre of Pillow. Thread a long, sharp sewing needle and pierce through center of Pillow. Cinch tightly. Sew one button to top and bottom of Pillow at center.
