Travel inspiration: Why the QT Gold Coast should be on your list for an autumn escape
We took a tour around this groovy beachside accomodation that offers so much more than a standard hotel
If you’re craving a sunshine-soaked holiday after New Zealand’s less-than-stellar summer, it’s time to start planning an escape over the ditch. New Zealand families, couples and solo travellers alike all love a little escape to the Goldie, so the plethora of accommodation options can be a little overwhelming.
Thisnzlife.co.nz was invited for a peek around the recently opened QT Gold Coast and it’s become out top pick for a sun-soaked escape, thanks to its luxurious rooms and quirky and colourful fit-out.
What’s there to love? Well, a lot. The hotel’s interior is a masterclass in attention to detail and 1950s beach club-inspired decor. New rooftop cabins designed by Nic Graham really allow you to get away from it all, whilst remaining in the middle of the action. Those travelling with friends are in luck — unlike many city hotels, a plethora of outside common areas have been maximised for socialising and sunbathing, while private rooms and day beds provide spots to rest and recover.
During their stay, guests can dine at the two onsite restaurants, grab a drink at the Stingray lounge, take a dip in the pool or just bliss out for an hour or two at SpaQ. And yes, the hotel is only metres to the surf and golden sand of Surfers Paradise beach.
If you’re looking for an activity, we highly recommend the QT Gold Coast’s sip-sational QTea. Here, one of the greatest pleasures is sitting down in front of tiny tiered treats, from bacon mozzarella donuts to vodka and salmon blinis. Sweet toothed souls can munch gold leaf almond rochers and raspberry towers. Paired to every palm is a selection of tea, coffee, champagne or spritz jug to share.
