An enormous jar of peanut butter is being auctioned for a good cause.

Wellington artisan peanut butter makers Fix & Fogg regularly get messages from people who confess to eating whole jars of the company’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter in one sitting. Founder Roman Jewell says fans who find it hard to stop at just one spoonful have inspired their latest project – a 5kg jar of Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter that’s going to be auctioned for charity.

The 5kg jar – containing more than 13 standard jars – is up for auction on TradeMe. All proceeds will go to Wellington’s Women’s Refuge.
“If you’ve ever thought you could eat more than a jar in a day, now’s your chance to prove it and do good at the same time,” Jewell says.

Fix and Fogg’s Dark Chocolate peanut butter was the winner of the Earth category in the 2017 Outstanding Food Producer Awards. A combination of Fix and Fogg’s hand-crafted peanut butter with Whittaker’s 62 per cent dark Ghana chocolate and you get what the judges described as “not do much a marriage of flavours as a wickedly naughty affair.”

Fix and Fogg is owned by Roman and Andrea Jewell , both lawyers who left the rat race behind when they set up their tiny nut buttery in a Wellington laneway. Part of the Conscious Consumers Network, they are committed to recycling packaging and reducing food waste. Local Wellington deliveries are made by bike and they give back to the community by regularly donating product to food banks and charities.
